From 1987 to today...

 
 

The prestigious International "Golden Firefighter" Awards of Videos on Fire, are yearly summoned since 1987, in Badajoz (Spain) to reward the best international productions on fires or emergencies. Iniatially was designed as an international contest of videos and a video festival, being later expanded with an international contest of photography.

VIDEOFUEGO was an idea designed by Fernando Bermejo, the Chief of the Badajoz Fire and Rescue Service, to commemorate the Centennial of the Badajoz Fire Brigade professionalitation, and quickly reached a great international prestige.

Each year, from 1987 to 1999, VIDEOFUEGO has been organized by the Badajoz Fire and Rescue Service and the Cultural and Sport Association of the Badajoz Firefighters with other entities collaborarion, especially the Extremadura Government and Caja de Badajoz. After a pause in the 2000, started a new stage in the 2001 edition, organized by VIDEOTRAINING and managed by Fernando Bermejo, its creator and Manager since the first edition.

From the 2001 edition, VIDEOFUEGO includes an international contest of multimedia productions in CD-Rom on fires and emergencies.

The "Golden Firefighter" Awards are annually given to the best videos presented to the contest in each of the following categories :

  • Formation.

  • Fire Prevention

  • Reports on Disasters.

  • Reports on Fire Departments.

  • Promotion of Fire Products.

  • There are also a "Golden Firefighter" Award to the Best Video presented by a Fire Department

Also, the Jury gives Diplomas of Excellent and Special Mentions to the not rewarded videos standing out for any aspect of their content. There also is a Special Award of the Jury to the Best Video in the Contest.

In the Photography Contest it is given a "Golden Firefighter" Award to the Best Photo on Paper and another one to the Best Photo in Digital Format, besides five Special Mentions in each Section.

In the Multimedia Contest there are "Golden Firefighter" Awards to the Best Programs on:

  • Formation

  • Fire or emergency simulation

  • Promotion of products, firms, etc.

Also there are Special Mentions and Diplomas of Excellent to other Programs.

Producers from whole world present each year their productions in VIDEOFUEGO. In all the edition they have been presented more than 700 videos from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, England, France, Germany, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA and Wales. Getting a "Golden Firefighter" Award in the VIDEOFUEGO Contest represents an exceptional reward, but also being nominated as Finalist supposes an extraordinary international recognition of quality.
